SUNDAY REVISITED - Yes, You: How God Uses the Small to Do Big Things

Good morning, church family! This week, we kicked off a new message series titled "Yes, You," focusing on how God can use each of us to do amazing things, regardless of our perceived limitations. Let's dive into the key points from tthis week's message and explore how God uses the small, the unequipped, and the seemingly insignificant to advance His kingdom.

Feeling Unequipped? You're Not Alone

One of the enemy's most effective tactics is making us feel like we're not good enough to do God's work. Whether it's feeling too insignificant, too scared, or too messed up, these lies can keep us from stepping into the roles God has for us. But Scripture tells a different story. God uses the small, the outsiders, the behind-the-scenes workers, and the timid to accomplish His purposes

.

Biblical Example: David and Goliath - Who Was David?

David is one of the best examples of how God uses the small. He was a shepherd, a servant, a brother, a warrior, a king, a worshiper, an adulterer, and a murderer. Despite his many flaws and mistakes, David is remembered in the New Testament as a man after God's own heart. This shows that God values our pursuit of Him over our past mistakes.

David vs. Goliath

The story of David and Goliath is a classic example of God using the unequipped to achieve great things. Goliath was a giant Philistine warrior, while David was a young, inexperienced shepherd. Saul, the king, doubted David's ability to fight Goliath, pointing out his lack of training and experience. Yet, God equipped David to defeat Goliath, proving that our perceived inadequacies do not limit God's power.

Modern Example: Holly Wygand - Holly's Journey

Holly Wygand, our Spark Kids Ministry Director, is a modern-day example of how God uses those who may feel unequipped. Despite feeling unqualified and unequipped, Holly has been instrumental in leading our children's ministry. Her story is a testament to how God can use anyone willing to step out in faith.

Overcoming Obstacles

Holly faced numerous challenges, including feeling distant from the church and dealing with personal struggles. However, a simple invitation to church reignited her faith. Despite her initial feelings of inadequacy, Holly embraced her calling and has made a significant impact on our church community.

Life Application: Embrace Your Calling

God can use you, no matter how small or unequipped you feel. Like David and Holly, your perceived limitations do not define your ability to serve God's kingdom. Embrace your calling and trust that God will equip you for the tasks He has set before you.

Questions to Reflect On

1. What lies have you believed about your ability to serve God?

2. How can you step out in faith this week, trusting that God will equip you?

3. Who in your life can you encourage to embrace their calling, despite their perceived limitations?

Challenge for the Week

This week, take a step towards embracing your calling. Whether it's volunteering at church, reaching out to someone in need, or simply spending more time in prayer, trust that God will equip you for the task. Remember, God uses the small to do big things.

As we close in worship, let's focus on chasing after God's heart, just as David did. Trust that He will equip you for whatever He has called you to do.
